Soil to Seed is a curriculum for educators looking to teach soil erosion concepts in a relevant and experiential way. Five lessons begin by exploring the fundamental mechanics of erosion, from the first raindrop splash to the soil as it is deposited in the waterways. Youth take these ideas and bring them to life by discovering examples around their school campus and develop experiments to further their understanding on possibilities to manage soil loss.
Drawing current research from NC State University's Sediment and Erosion Control Research Lab, the lessons reflect current problems and solutions encountered in the field. The curriculum contains interactive videos, and animations to enrich the student's experience and enhance teaching.
